Soda Blonde with support from Soft Launch

Cavan Arts Festival brings one of “the most critically lauded Irish acts of their generation”, the enigmatic and ethereal alt-pop quartet Soda Blonde, to Townhall Arts Centre on Saturday, 18th May as part of a heavyweight double-header with rising stars Soft Launch (featuring ex-Strypes guitarist Josh McClorey).

Tickets: €30 from townhallartscentre.com or from the theatre box office in person or by phone on 049 4380494, Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm.

The debut album from Soda Blonde, ‘Small Talk’, was hailed by The Irish Times as “articulate and expressive” and “artful, accessible and cinematic” and marked them out as one of the finest Irish collectives out there.

Their 2023 follow-up ‘Dream Big’ is a collection of catchy and cathartic pop songs that lives up to its title by expanding on the band’s alt-pop sensibilities to create a more ambitious, textured, and multi-layered sound, tied neatly together by singer Faye O’Rourke’s distinctive vocal.

Hot Press labelled Dream Big, “a mature awakening to the world at large”, gushing “[they] continue to craft and faultlessly arrange beautiful songs with choruses you’ll be singing along with as you hear them for the first time”.

Soft Launch

Supporting Soda Blonde at Cavan Arts Festival are the best “not really a band” - band you’ve ever heard, the inimitable Soft Launch. Having cut their teeth supporting big hitters such as CMAT and Kodaline’s Mark Prendergast, this collection of dementedly talented multi-instrumentalists features none-other than Cavan's very own Josh McClorey (The Strypes, CMAT), whose first performance at Cavan Arts Festival is already the stuff of legend.

We are, frankly, beside ourselves with excitement and ready to get Soft-Launched into the stratosphere once again. Josh and co. describe themselves as “your mum’s favourite boys”. We’re pretty sure they’ll soon be yours, too.

Join us for this whistle-stop journey to the zenith of Irish indie and pop music on Saturday, 18th May at Townhall Arts Centre. Tickets are priced at €30. Doors open at 8pm, first band on stage at 8:30pm.
