At the Cavan Arts Festival, Brendan will lead a very special festival edition of Slow Session, with guitar and bodhrán player José Misael Rivas Cortéz. We invite all ages and instruments to be part of this accessible music session.

Whether you're new to sessions or rediscovering your musical voice, this is the perfect place to start! Be part of our festival programme. Tunes will be played at a relaxed tempo, with an emphasis on enjoyment, community, and musical connection. The sets of tunes, key signatures and the first few notes of each tune will be made available beforehand and as handouts at the session.
Brendan McCreanor is an acclaimed uilleann piper and whistle player from County Louth who facilitates the popular Slow Session at An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk and Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda.
Designed as an inclusive, welcoming space for musicians of all levels, the Slow Session encourages learning and participation in Irish traditional music at an accessible pace.
Brendan’s warm teaching style and deep knowledge of the Oriel tradition create an environment where beginners and improvers feel comfortable joining in, building confidence and repertoire along the way.
