Sensory Room
Sunday 17th May, 11am-4pm
Cavan Institute, Rooms A220/A221 (upstairs)
Sensory Room
The Sensory Room by Cavan Autism Centre and C.A.P.S. (Cavan Autism Parents Support CLG) returns to Cavan Arts Festival this year, offering a calm and welcoming space where visitors can take a break from the excitement of the festival.
Designed to support people who may feel overwhelmed by busy environments, the room features soft lighting, gentle sounds, tactile objects and comfortable seating, creating a peaceful space to relax and regulate.
This year, an Exploration Room will also be available alongside the Sensory Room. Located in the same space, it offers a range of hands-on sensory play activities including coloured rice and pasta, Lego, animal figures, sorting games, kinetic sand, magnets and fidget toys. These playful stations encourage creativity, exploration and sensory engagement.
Together, these spaces provide supportive and inclusive environments where visitors can relax, explore and enjoy the festival in their own way. Cavan Art Festival’s Sensory Room is kindly supported by Access at Arts Council of Ireland.
Directions
Enter through the main entrance of Cavan Institute. Directly ahead you will find stairs and a lift. Take either option to the first floor, then turn right and walk to the end of the hallway. The Sensory Room will be on your left.
