Cavan Arts Festival is proud to present the launch of Cavan Community Cinema, a bold new initiative bringing people together through the magic of film. To launch this exciting new project, we will be screening ‘Unspoken’ by Cavan Director Alan Bradley at 1pm on Sunday 18th May in the Cavan Institute.
This event is free to attend, but registration is required.
‘Unspoken’ is a powerful documentary exploring the crisis in eating disorders among Irish men, featuring the personal stories of Cormac, Eoin, and Daniel. The screening will be followed by a discussion with director Alan Bradley and Dr Fiona Flynn from Bodywhys, The Eating Disorder Association of Ireland.
Warning: Unspoken contains discussions of eating disorders, body image struggles, and mental health challenges, including personal accounts of disordered eating behaviors. This content may be distressing for some viewers.
Directions: Enter Cavan Institute through the main entrance. As you come in, you’ll see a staircase directly ahead – go up the stairs. At the top, turn left and walk to the end of the hallway. The screening will be held in Room 202, the last door on your right.
Cavan Community Cinema will continue with screenings throughout the year in community spaces across the region, creating opportunities for storytelling, engagement, and artistic collaboration. We welcome interest from community groups, artists, and filmmakers who wish to be involved in this journey – whether through hosting screenings, suggesting films, or developing new creative projects. Cavan Community Cinema is more than just a cinema, it’s a space for connection, creativity, and conversation.
