Storm Echoes by Orla Galligan
Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th May - Con Smith Park, Cavan
Storm Echoes is a bold and sustainable art installation project that repurposes fallen trees and branches from Storm Éowyn into dynamic, colourful sculptures. These structures will form abstract silhouettes resembling human figures, lightning strikes, or flowing patterns, enriching the atmosphere of Con Smith Park during the festival. Painted in vivid hues and strategically arranged along pathways or in green areas, the installation invites community interaction, encouraging viewers to explore its shifting forms from multiple perspectives.
About the Artist
Orla Galligan is a multidisciplinary artist based in Cavan, whose diverse practice encompasses painting, textiles, printmaking, sculpture, and installation art. In addition to her artistic endeavours, she is a dedicated educator, serving as both a Home Economics and Art teacher.
Orla Galligan's work often explores themes of identity, transformation, heritage and nature. Her use of varied materials and techniques allows her to create dynamic, thought-provoking pieces that bridge traditional and contemporary artistic practices. Orla is the 2025 recipient of the Cavan Arts Festival Bursary Award.
