Badhands
Badhands are a 5 piece band from Dublin fronted by songwriter and award-winning composer Dan Fitzpatrick. Often compared to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, the band has released 2 critically acclaimed albums, and sold out Dublin shows in The Workmans Club and Whelans. May 20th sees see the band bring their moody brand of rock n roll to Cavan for the first time at the Arts Festival, a week after the release of their third album 'The Wheel.
Badhands is the musical project of multi-instrumentalist and award-winning composer Dan Fitzpatrick. In May 2023 he will release his 3rd album The Wheel, featuring regular collaborators Chris Barry, Aoife Ruth, David Tapley and Ken Mooney. In late 2018 Badhands released the critically acclaimed debut Predictable Boy. Described in The Sunday Times as 'Evoking Nick Cave with it's guttural swagger - it has taken the Dubliner's songwriting to another level', Album of the Week by Dan Hegarty on RTE 2FM Song Of The Week by Laura Whitmore on BBC5 Live. Badhands' 2nd album Far Away, (2022): A wonderfully rich sound inspired by mid-period Scott Walker and blue-chip legends and luminaries such as Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Lee Hazlewood.
Fitzpatrick has also composed soundtracks for multi award-winning documentaries including Wild Cuba, which aired in 2020 on BBC2 & was nominated for 3 Emmys. The soundtrack won an award at the prestigious Jackson Wild Film Festival in the U.S., as well as winning Best Score at the 2021 Green Screen Festival in Germany. 'The Wheel' will be released on May 5th. The opening single from the album was made Song Of The Week by Beta da Silva on 2FM, Kate Brennan Harding on 2Xm, and was playlisted on RTE Radio1 Recommends.
