Jane McCormick - Dympna's Cure

Dympna's Cure is a video installation located in the Cavan Co Council mobile canteen nestled in the trees in the park. The video shows a visit to St Dympna's Well in Lavey, just outside Cavan town. The well is said to have the cure of all head related ailments including depression, headache and epilepsy.

Jane McCormick is a visual artist based in Cavan. She studied at De Montfort University Leicester in the UK graduating with Hons Degree in Ceramics in 1980. Over the intervening years her practice has gone from domestic scale ceramic sculpture to large multimedia installations. Her recent work is informed by her experience of living with chronic illness. The ephemera of a sick life & the associated pills, potions, cures and lotions are some of the themes explored in this work. Dympna’s Cure is a development of a video piece shown at her 2018 exhibition Not Half Right shown in The Atypical Gallery, Belfast.

Carrie Lewis - Small, Not far Away

Small, Not Far Away is a collection of miniature buildings from Cavan town's past and present. The landmark buildings are integrated into the flora of Con Smith park. Digitally illustrated, the buildings are constructed with folding cardboard. This is a tiny fairy town of nostalgic sites for young and old. These buildings are small, but the ones in Cavan are not far away... from our memories at least.

Carrie Lewis is a Dublin based artist/graphic designer from Cavan. She studied Industrial design & illustration & has worked as a graphic designer for 8 years. She was a member of the Townhall Cavan Arts Space, worked with Trans-art Cavan and has a passion for illustration and all things tiny and miniature.

Ciara O'Connor Walsh
 - Matrescence

Like adolescence, matrescence describes a developmental transition from womanhood to motherhood that is hormonal, physical and emotional. This audio meditation reflects on how women's lives change and evolve in motherhood, how they become entrenched in the domestic sphere: emotional and domestic labour, caring for children, the repetitive loop of the everyday.

You are invited to eavesdrop on the minutiae of the day-to-day work which forms the tapestry of a woman’s life. While listening to these soundscapes, you are invited to listen and conjure your own meaning of the word home, of mother and the transitions into motherhood, and your own imagination of the domestic sphere.

Ciara is a podcast producer and audiophile. She currently produces a number of podcasts within the Headstuff Podcast Network, and with them, made a ten-part series in 2018 – The Eighth – about the eighth amendment referendum. She recently completed a documentary podcast series with A Lust for Life on the mental health system in Ireland – Where There’s A Will, and is currently producing a new series on culture and stress with Niall Breslin. Talk to her about podcasts and she’ll talk back forever.
